Happy Easter
"O Savior, My Savior”
by Sandy Kay Slawson
"Divine God takes on flesh,
The Way from the beginning, prophesied Christ.
O Savior, such sorrow wrought sweat drops of Blood,
A prayer, Not my Will, but Thine be done.
O Savior, what Passion for Thy Glory and sheep,
Whipped, beaten, pierced through Thy side, hands and feet.
A crown of thorns, a cross of death, carried to Calvary,
O Savior, lifted like the bronze serpent for a sinner like me.
Look to Me and be saved, our Savior doth say,
For this Remedy is the only way.
O Savior, the God-Man, for us You did bleed.
Baring our sin, shame, and guilt You did intercede.
Separated from the Father You mourned in agony.
’Twas our gain and Your loss on Golgotha’s hill.
You cried, "It is finished,” prophesy fulfilled.
Death cheered. Hell jeered.
Darkness fell, the crowd yelled when our Savior died,
O Savior, my Savior, for us crucified.
The Blood of the Lamb accepted.
No longer rejected.
By God’s mighty hand the veil was torn.
Come ye weak sinner weary and worn.
Though our Savior Divine, lay buried in the tomb.
And Disciples fled as from doom.
And Satan thought his schemes would succeed.
On day one.
On day two.
On the third day he knew,
The evil serpent, that he had failed,
He slithered, swore, and pridefully railed.
We were free,
From his clutch,
From his lies,
From our due.
For the Word, the Truth, had purchased salvation.
What joy, what peace and absolute elation!
Our Savior, The Life, could not be defeated.
Though He died, praise God, He now was risen.
O Savior, my Savior,
Death could not hold You.
The Grave could not keep You.
You’ve conquered. You’ve won. Sin is overcome.
O Savior, my Savior, Resurected LORD,
Whose words rend the heart like a two-edged sword.
Name above all names,
Jesus the Son.
The Way.
The Truth.
The Life.
Eternal One.
O Savior, my Savior, for now and always,
To You be glory, honor, and praise."
